Materials & techniques
In the studio you work with our materials: clays, glazes, engobes, ceramic pencils and watercolours. All of them are tested for our kiln and firing curve, which is why no outside materials belong in the studio. Untested material can damage your piece, other people's pieces and the kiln.
The procedures in this section are not just recommendations. Badly applied glaze runs onto the kiln shelf and damages the pieces around it, an unsigned piece cannot be returned to its owner, and badly wrapped clay dries out. Sample boards for clays and glazes with fired examples are in the studio. Glaze looks completely different before firing than after.
